The province of Almería has the delights of the Mediterranean Sea and a subtropical climate; warm and dry during practically the whole year.
Almería is known as the region of Andalusia with the most hours of sunshine per year, more than 3000!
Its mild climate all year round makes it a perfect destination for a vacation at any time of the year.
The natural beaches, sand dunes, tiny fishing villages and headlands, all overlooking the Mediterranean and the coastline are breathtaking.
The region is one of the most ecological coastal areas of the western coast and perfect for hikers, nature lovers and bird watchers.
The coastline is about 214 km long, which is about 25% of the Andalusian coastline.
Despite Almería’s dry climate, it is an important agricultural area – growing some 250 million kilos of flowers and crops a year.
The quality of fruits and vegetables there is excellent.
The province of Almería is rich in fish and seafood dishes, of which squid and red shrimp are signature dishes.
Other typical dishes include stew, migas (fried bread with garlic and spicy sausage) and lots of grilled fish.
